All Australian silver coins minted between 1910 and 1945 are 92.5% silver (sterling silver), while all Australian silver coins minted from 1946 to 1964 are 50% silver content.
After KGV passed in 1936, Edward VIII was monarch for less than a year before abdicating, leaving the throne to King George VI. While the proofs were made, the mints hadn't quite managed to manufacture any coins during KEVIII's reign, as such no KEVIII coins were minted. From 1938 the mints were ready with the dies for the new monarch, KGVI, and minting commenced. KGVI reigned until 1952.
The reverse 'Coat of Arms' design from earlier years was retained for the duration of sixpence manufacture.
The 1939 and 1952 sixpence are considered as scarce, with 1940 and 1948 considered harder dates.
Dates not minted: 1937, 1947, 1949
