The Australian threepence was first minted in England from 1910 to 1915, before Australia began producing most of its own from 1916 onwards.
The 1910 threepence featured King Edward VII on the obverse. After KEVII's death King George V became monarch of the empire, as such his images are on the obverse from 1911 until 1936, when KGV's reign ended.
All Australian threepence between 1910 and 1936 featured the Australian Coat of Arms (as supplied by KEVII in 1908) on the reverse.
Key dates in the KGV era include the 'rare' 1915, 'scarce' 1912, 1914, and 1923, as well as lower mintage coins, and two overdates.
The 1922/21 overdate is extremely rare, with an approximation of 900 minted, while the 1934/33 overdate is also considered quite rare.
Dates not minted (KGV era): 1913, 1929, 1930, 1931, 1932, 1933.
All Australian silver coins minted between 1910 and 1945 are 92.5% silver (sterling silver), while all Australian silver coins minted from 1946 to 1964 are 50% silver content.
Mintage: 4,000,000
