After KGV passed in 1936, Edward VIII was monarch for less than a year before abdicating, leaving the throne to King George VI.   While the proofs were made, the mints hadn't quite managed to manufacture any coins during KEVIII's reign, as such no KEVIII coins were minted.  From 1938 the mints were ready with the dies for the new monarch, KGVI, and minting commenced.  KGVI reigned until 1952.

The florin reverse design changed in 1938 to the new Australian 'Coat of Arms', which was retained until decimilisation.

The 1939 florin is considered scarce, while other dates enjoy relatively high values based primarily on their silver content.
